Tibet Tours — Your Questions Answered

Everything you need to know before you book, so your journey is calm, confident and completely worry-free.

Which route is best for a first trip to Tibet?
The classic 7-day Lhasa · Nyingchi · Yamdrok loop is the ideal introduction. Lhasa sits at 3,650 m and Nyingchi at around 2,900 m, so oxygen levels are higher, the pace is gentler and your body has time to acclimatise. Nyingchi, known as the "Switzerland of Tibet", is also one of the most beautiful corners of the plateau.
How do foreign travellers obtain a Tibet Travel Permit?
All foreign passport holders and Taiwan residents require a Tibet Travel Permit to enter the region. We handle the entire application on your behalf — simply send us a scan of your passport and your intended travel dates 15–20 days in advance. Our success rate is 100%.
Are there shopping stops on your group tours?
No. Every itinerary we sell is a pure-sightseeing, no-shopping tour. We believe in travel with integrity and never take guests to commission-driven shops. If you would like to buy local handicrafts, your guide will happily point you towards reputable stores.
When is the best time of year to visit Tibet?
May to October offers the mildest weather, the highest oxygen levels and the most dramatic scenery. Winter (November to March) is quieter and considerably more affordable, and a snow-covered Potala Palace beneath a deep blue sky is something you will never forget.
How do you handle altitude sickness?
We recommend taking Rhodiola about a week before departure. Once in Lhasa, take things slowly, drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous activity on your first day. Every vehicle carries medical oxygen and all of our guides are trained in high-altitude first aid.
Can I book a private departure or a custom itinerary?
Absolutely. We build private journeys every week — you choose the dates, the pace, the hotel standard and the vehicle type, and we design the route around you. Speak to a travel consultant and we will draft a personalised itinerary within 24 hours.
